Professional Annual Awards – Coaches, Judges, Service Excellence

Every year at the annual year-end banquet, the State Committee calls for nominations for compulsory coach, optional coach, judge, and Service Excellence of the year awards. Follow the survey link to make your nominations. All nominations are due by June 4th. We will collect all results and begin voting on June 6th.

Below you will find the categories and expected criteria for each award.


Optional Program of the Year:

  • A Program of the Year gives back to the gymnastics and judging communities by volunteering their time.
  • A Program of the Year promotes sportsmanship with own team, as well as with other teams and coaches.
  • A Program of the Year must be USA Gymnastics member in current good standing, professional in conduct attends clinics and camps and strives for leadership roles.
  • A Program of the Year measures success with happy gymnasts, parents and co-workers.

Compulsory Program of the Year:

  • A Program of the Year gives back to the gymnastics and judging communities by volunteering their time.
  • A Program of the Year promotes sportsmanship with own team, as well as with other teams and coaches.
  • A Program of the Year must be USA Gymnastics member in current good standing, professional in conduct attends clinics and camps and strives for leadership roles.
  • A Program of the Year measures success with happy gymnasts, parents and co-workers.

Judge of the Year:

  • A Judge of the Year makes gymnasts, coaches and meet directors delighted that they are on the meet.
  • A Judge of the Year gives back to the gymnastics and judging communities by volunteering their time.
  • A Judge of the Year is professional, yet approachable, with all coaches, gymnasts and other judges.
  • A Judge of the Year is a current USA Gymnastics/NAWGJ member, professional in conduct, dependable, on-time, well-prepared and organized.

Meet of The Year:

  • A meet that is hosted by an Ohio club.
  • A meet that economically impacts the state of Ohio by being held in Ohio.
  • The host club must be a member club of USA Gymnastics in current good standing.
  • The Meet of the Year measures success with happy gymnasts, competitors, parents, judges, and staff. It truly brings our entire gymnastics community together

Service Excellence Award:

This category is used to show appreciation to those who have helped shape the sport of gymnastics in the state of Ohio. Gymnastics. We desire to “look back” for nominations. If it were not for some of the people who set the standards before us, we might not be where we are today. Help us reach back and thank those who helped develop the grassroots of Ohio gymnastics.
